Charlie's Chardonnay - 2021

When planting either actual seeds or proverbial seeds, one never really knows what will manifest. What I do know is that my life has been a trail of intentional seeds dropped along the way. One particular seed that needed watering was fly fishing (casting). You see, fly fishing is like therapy for me, and like many others, the need was real. I planted the seed, and by pure chance, along came Charlie, and along came 7 a.m. meet-ups at a local park.

“Back cast higher, quick stop, follow through and end your cast where you’d like for the fly to lie. That’s good.”

My Chardonnay-cast landed perfectly. A delightful subtle bouquet with a surprise note of green apple and apricot with all its fuzz. That smokey finish? Yes, American oak.

The table is set and the pairing is... spicy collard greens, seasoned, with smoked turkey legs and accompanied by lightly battered fish, after all, it’s Summertime... Rods tilted to Charlie...
